The fact that the state is crossed by a mountainous area, determines that the zone presents three types of climate between the coast, the Gulf and the ocean, these are dry-semiwarm, very dry-semiwarm and warm. The minimum temperature in the Pacific zone is 13.6° C, the maximum temperature reached in La Paz has been 40° C , and an average of 22° C.
Most of the year, the winds from the west predominate; nevertheless, during the summer, this kind of winds back down to make room for the tropical cyclon season originated in the Pacific Ocean bringing within strong winds from the city of Los Cabos; despite their destructive nature, these are beneficial to the region because they prevent the increase of arid zones.
